The Lao Ministry of Education and Sports and the Chinese Embassy in Laos co-hosted a farewell party in the Lao capital Vientiane on Thursday for Lao students who were awarded the Chinese government's scholarship for the 2023-2024 school year.
"On behalf of the Lao government, I would like to express my gratitude to the Chinese government and people for providing assistance to Laos in building human resources," Lao Minister of Education and Sports Phout Simmalavong delivered a speech at the event.
This assistance is an important contribution to Laos's socioeconomic development and has strengthened the friendship between Laos and China, he said.
From 2018 to 2023, the Chinese government awarded scholarships to over 6,000 Lao people to study for doctorate, master's and bachelor's degrees in China.
