Aggressive triggerfish tries to attack snorkeller and chases him away
An aggressive triggerfish tried to attack a snorkeller and chased him away.
The marine creature swam up from the seabed and charged towards diver Mark Joey Florentino, who was exploring underwater off Panglao Island in Bohol province, the Philippines, on June 12.
Footage shows the angry animal gliding towards the tourist before swiftly launching itself onto Mark, who then backed away to escape.
During the chase, a second triggerfish appeared and looked like it would also drive the visitor away, so Mark fled back to the boat.
Triggerfish are not generally considered to be dangerous to humans. However, they can be aggressive, especially during mating season or when defending their territory. They have sharp teeth and can inflict a painful bite, but their bites are not usually fatal.
