This is the shocking moment a deliveryman was clotheslined by a cable hanging across a street in Thailand.

The motorcycle rider was passing through a neighbourhood in Chonburi province on August 27 when he hit the low-lying cable draped across his path.

Footage shows the man driving along the residential area before being knocked out of balance when he struck the road obstacle.

As he was driving at a low speed, he was not seriously injured and managed to pick himself back up.

He said he suffered a minor abrasion on his chin, and his motorcycle was also slightly damaged.

Speaking to local media on Monday, August 28, the motorist said he had already talked with the owner of the cable, who has agreed to provide compensation for the accident. His medical treatment was covered by social security, he added.

He said: 'The owner should be more careful not to obstruct the road. I was lucky since I was driving slow, but a different person going fast might have been seriously hurt.'

Meanwhile, the resident who owned the CCTV footage said she shared the footage to prevent similar accidents from happening.

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.

However, a lack of road safety education in schools along with notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws, and chronic under-investment in infrastructure, all appear to hamper the efforts.
