Ship appears to hover in Fata Morgana illusion off Kent, UK
A ship appeared to hover above the water-line in an optical illusion seen off Kent, UK this morning (August 29).
A dredging ship called 'City of London' was seen to hover above the waterline - whilst also appearing to be mirrored - in a rare mirage optical illusion - known as a Fata Morgana.
Footage filmed from Sheerness shows the ship hovering in the distance, whilst seen with passing tall ship Tenacious, which appears at normal sea level.
Dredging ships often float low to the water as they suck up material from the seabed, so only the superstructure of the ship can be seen in this clip.
