Enjoy this colourful Chinese lantern fair with awesome designs
Tourists made handpainted Chinese lanterns to be displayed at a fair in Thailand.
This year's Lantern Art exhibition features dozens of personalised paper lamps created by locals and visitors at Samyan Mitrtown Mall in the Thai capital Bangkok.
Footage shows dozens of circular lamps doodled with acrylic paint, lit and hung along the walking street outside the building.
Cute designs of cats, flowers, emojis, PacMan ghosts, fruits, and others were drawn by those who attended the event and dried at a rack inside the mall before they were displayed.
The DIY Chinese lantern art workshop ran from August 3 to 14, but the finished products will be available around the mall compound for everyone to see until the end of August.
Chinese lanterns were originally used for military purposes such as signalling troops or sending messages. It became a popular figure for festive occasions iver the years and are now used around the world especially in neighbouring country Thailand with which China had a long history of interaction dating back to the 11th century.
