As a result of experiencing drought for more than a month, a number of farmers around the Nusantara National Capital area or IKN in Sepaku District, North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan, Wednesday morning (30/8/2023) were forced to harvest rice early.

This was done to prevent crop failure. Due to the impact of the drought that hit the National Capital Region of the Archipelago or IKN area, farmers in the Jalan Datok Nondol area, Sepaku Village, Sepaku District, North Penajam Paser Regency, chose to harvest rice earlier.

This is because the drought that has hit for more than a month has made it difficult for tens of hectares of rice fields around the IKN area to get water supply.

In fact, currently the condition of tens of hectares of rice fields around the IKN area has all experienced cracks and cracks because they have not had a water supply for quite some time.

In fact, the farmers in that location have already planted rice, but are now forced to harvest it earlier in order to reduce losses due to crop failure.

One of the farmers, Kinung (55) said that due to the drought that hit the paddy fields in the past month, the farmers have suffered significant losses. This is because, apart from having difficulty getting a water supply, rice farmers around the IKN area are also forced to spend quite a lot of money to buy a water supply so they can continue to water the rice plants that have already been planted.
