STORYLINE:

Chinese vocational education has not only benefited Chinese companies' overseas development, but also helped with talent cultivation in other countries.

In 2019, Shunde Polytechnic, a vocational school located in south China's Guangdong Province signed an agreement with a local company, GuangDong CHINESTAR Steel Structure Co., Ltd. to train its employees in Rwanda.

"Because GuangDong CHINESTAR has a large number of engineering and technology projects in Rwanda, it's in urgent need of local talents. So it works with the teachers of our school to continuously train talents for its projects in Rwanda."

"We have contacted some coating testing laboratories in Rwanda. We found that its coating technology and technique is relatively weak. We have trained them on technical skills such as quality inspection of coating products, coating production and coating process."

In May, Shunde Polythechic, GuangDong CHINESTAR, and the Confucius Institute of the University of Rwanda agreed to establish a vocational education base in Rwanda.

The base aims to cultivate local talents by teaching employees Chinese language and vocational skills.

"I am responsible for translation. Many local employees feel that life is getting better and better because they could master professional skills and learn Chinese at the same time. I hope we can communicate more in the future."
