Teachers clear out classrooms after 104 schools in England were told to shut buildings over concrete safety fears
Staff today (1) were seen removing furniture from one of more than 100 schools forced to close due to concrete safety fears.
Staff at Willowbrook Mead Primary Academy, Leicester, could be seen removing chairs and bookcases after they were forced to delay the start of term.
Workmen could also be seen on the site, helping remove furniture and doing construction work on the school roof.
The primary school in Leicester is one of 104 schools in England - and one of three in Leicester - forced to shut some buildings due to concrete safety fears.
Between 1950-1990 schools were built using RAAC panels - a lightweight form of concrete - which has led to a number of structural failures in recent years.
Yesterday (31/08) the Government announced schools across England would be forced to close due to concerns buildings could collapse without warning.
