An empty cargo ship "Changneng 6588" ran aground in the early hours of August 31 in the Yangtze River in Nantong City in China.

Rapidly responding to the precarious situation, the Nantong Maritime Rescue Centre promptly dispatched warning vessels including the "Haixun 06915" to the scene for immediate assistance. In a coordinated effort, salvage engineering ships, such as "Wenqiang 5" and "Tonggangtuo 21", alongside high-powered tugboats and pollution-cleaning ships were also deployed for emergency handling of the situation.

Following tense hours of careful operations, the stranded "Changneng 6588" was successfully freed from its perch atop a bridge at 2:50 am on September 1. This was achieved with the assistance of the salvage engineering ships and the powerful tugboats, leveraging the rising tide to safely free the ship.

Thankfully, the grounding of the "Changneng 6588" did not result in any casualties nor any pollution of the surrounding waters. Ongoing related operations are currently in progress. As of the latest reports, after riding the tide to freedom, the "Changneng 6588" has now been moved to a safe water zone.
