STORYLINE:

The new 2023-2024 academic year of all types of educational institutions such as kindergartens, general educational schools and universities across Mongolia started on Friday.

"In the new academic year, we all will pay special attention to evaluate and reward every achievement of teachers' professional development and student learning progress. Equal opportunities for learning will be opened to everyone regardless of time and space," Luvsantseren Enkh-Amgalan, minister of education and science, said in a statement.

A total of 781,178 children are studying in 866 general educational schools across the country, and 75,100 of the pupils are first-graders, according to the ministry.

In addition, there are over 147,000 students in 65 universities while 40,856 students are studying in 78 vocational education and training centers across the country.

Meanwhile, there are a total of more than 302,200 children in 1,420 kindergartens in the Asian country.
