Hong Kong: Typhoon Saola Lashes Former UK Colony With Strong Winds And Rain, Rare T10 Warning Raised 5
The Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) issued a T10 storm warning as Typhoon Saola's strong winds and rain lashed the former British colony on Friday, September 1. The warning was later downgraded to T8, but residents were urged to remain vigilant.
Schools and most businesses were closed. The city urged its residents to stay home and opened emergency shelters for those needing refuge.
