Rohingya Genocide Remembrance Day, also known as Rohingya Genocide Memorial Day, is observed on August 25th each year to commemorate the Rohingya genocide that began in 2017. The Rohingya are a Muslim ethnic minority group in Myanmar, and the genocide involved widespread violence, displacement, and atrocities against them by the Myanmar military.

The genocide started on August 25, 2017, Myanmar military launched a brutal campaign characterized by mass killings, sexual violence, arson, and forced displacement of hundreds of thousands of Rohingya people.

The international community, human rights organizations, and various governments condemned these acts as crimes against humanity and ethnic cleansing. Many Rohingya fled to neighboring Bangladesh, creating one of the world's largest refugee crises.
