Tourists took shelter as Typhoon Haikui dumped heavy rain in the Philippines.

Holidaymakers huddled under tents as sheets of rain battered Boracay island on Sunday September 3.

Windsurfing and kite-surfing activities were cancelled for the day, local authorities said.

Typhoon Haikui, known locally as Hanna, was still enhancing the southwest monsoon, Philippine weather agency PAGASA said on Monday, September 4.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said two people were killed and more than 400,000 people were affected as Typhoons Haikui and Saola ravaged the tropical country last week.

Typhoon Haikui has made landfall in southeast Taiwan on September 3 afternoon, knocking out power to more than 160,000 households.
