The Corinthian Canal is a canal that crosses the Isthmus of Corinth in Greece. It separates the Peloponnese Peninsula from the Greek mainland at the southern Isthmus of Corinth, making the Peloponnese Peninsula actually an island. The Collins Canal is a tidal waterway.
Connect Collins Bay and Saronic Bay, connect the Ionic Sea and Aegean Sea. Excavated from 1881 to 1893. It is 6.3 kilometers long, with a water depth of 8 meters inside the canal. The surface of the canal is 24 meters wide, and the bottom is 21 meters wide. Shortening the voyage from the Adriatic Sea to Piraeus by 320 kilometers is of great significance for shipping.
