This is the shocking moment a woman skids face-down across the ground for several feet after strong winds from a raging typhoon forced her down onto the asphalt.

Footage shows the unnamed woman - dressed in shorts and a striped long-sleeved shirt - experiencing a painful fall while walking in Tseung Kwan O, one of the nine new towns in Hong Kong on the evening of September 1.

In the video, the woman is seen walking against the wind and rain under a pedestrian bridge when is suddenly knocked to the ground by an intense gust of wind.

She skids with her face down along the uneven surface for several feet before coming to a stop in the middle of the street.

The person filming quickly puts the phone away apparently rushing to help the woman who, luckily, seems to have escaped with only a few scrapes.

Typhoon Saola hit Hong Kong, still a world-renowned part of the former British Empire, with immense force, forcing authorities to issue the highest Typhoon Signal No. 10 on the evening of September 1.

The Hong Kong Observatory cautioned that strong winds and heavy rain would continue in various areas, urging the public to stay indoors in safe places.

Residents were also advised to stay further away from the shore amidst exceptionally high waves as officials. Numerous flights were cancelled and many businesses and schools were shot down as the Super Typhoon wrecked havoc in Hong Kong.
