Mother and child narrowly escape falling bricks in China
A mother and her child narrowly escaped falling bricks from a building in eastern China.
The CCTV footage was filmed in Yangzhou City in Jiangsu Province on September 2.
According to the woman named Ge, the incident occurred around noon as she was about to open her car door. Suddenly, she heard a loud "boom" and quickly rushed to take her son away. It turned out that bricks from the exterior wall of the 18th floor had fallen, with half of them landing on the clothesline of the 17th floor, while the other half dented the roof of her car.
Fortunately, no one was injured.
The property management personnel of the community stated that the incident was due to the aging and weathering of the exterior wall of the building. They will discuss compensation matters with the affected homeowner.
Officials from the Guangling District Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau stated that the community where the incident occurred is an old one, dating back over a decade. They are aware of the incident and are urging the property management to promptly assess and address the safety concerns.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
