Residents used plastic tubs to cross floods caused by a monsoon storm in eastern Thailand.

Nanthaporn and her family woke up to find their garden submerged in knee-deep muddy water following heavy rain in Chanthaburi province on September 4.

To cross the deluge, youngster Nong Kua rode a large basin and used it as a makeshift boat.

Amusing footage shows the boy sitting cross-legged on the plastic container, paddling next to his dad while they frolicked in the water.

The Thai Meteorological Department on September 4 warned of torrential rains across the country. Residents, especially those in low-lying areas, were urged to be vigilant of flash floods and forest run-off.

Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are in their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms in the afternoon leading to widespread flash floods.
