Tourists rescued as boat sinks off Cambodian island
Tourists were rescued when a boat they were on encountered difficulties off the coast of an island in Cambodia on Monday night.
The holidaymakers were onboard the vessel when it was stranded in choppy seas around the island of Koh Tres in Sihanoukville province at around 9pm local time, September 4.
Authorities were alerted when a message was sent by ‘Anna' – one of the tourists – saying 'need someone help, police or sea police'.
The Cambodian Navy and the Coast Guard responded to the incident and rescued all of the tourists. They were taken to a nearby pier and checked by medical personnel. All of the tourists were found to be in good health.
The authorities are investigating the incident to determine the cause of the difficulties. They are also working to ensure that the tourists are able to continue their travels safely.
