A woman riding a scooter was suddenly yanked off after getting snagged by a steel wire rope strung across the road in southern China.

The CCTV footage was filmed in the city of Hechi in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on August 31.

It was revealed that the steel rope was put up by villagers living up the mountain to hoist items. At the time, they were lifting grass up the slope and had not put any warning or safety signs in place.

The steel wire caught the headlight of the scooter, causing it to flip. The woman suffered injuries to her waist and has since been taken to the hospital for treatment.

Traffic police have determined that the villager responsible for suspending the steel wire is to be held fully accountable for the incident.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
