A vehicle was left almost completely submerged after heavy rains caused flooding in the Navarre neighbourhood in New Orleans on September 4.

The filmer told Newsflare that the driver had managed to escape earlier.

"While this happens every once in a while with heavy rains, I’ve never seen the water get this high. In the video, you can see the flood depth sign nearly submerged," they said.

Heavy rains always cause problems at this underpass in the Navarre neighborhood in New Orleans. And almost every time this area floods, a car thinks it can get through when it can’t.

Here, we see a car that’s nearly submerged (the driver got out earlier) while the rain kept coming. You can see that the New Orleans pumping stations are overwhelmed because of the back flow from the drainage system.
