A police chief rescued a kitten that was stuck in the wheel well of his cruiser.

Sergeant Carey Huls was on patrol in Sellersburg, Indiana, when he heard a faint meow coming from his cruiser. He opened the hood and found a small kitten wedged between the engine and the wheel well on September 1.

Huls carefully removed the kitten and took it to a local animal shelter. The kitten was unharmed and is now being cared for by the shelter staff.

Huls nicknamed the kitten 'Dodge' after the type of police cruiser he was driving. He said he was glad he was able to help the kitten and that he was 'happy to avoid a real CATastrophie'.

The policeman added: 'She's had a long ride, about an hour.'

In 2021, Indiana State Police troopers rescued a kitten that was stuck in the wheel well of a police car.
