An elderly man defending a seat dispute on a train got shockingly slapped by a bystander in eastern China.

The schooling video was filmed in the city of Qingdao in Shandong Province on September 4.

Two elderly women quarrelling over a seating issue, with the elderly man chiming in. One of the women accused the elderly man's companion of occupying two seats, to which he retorted, "Even if I took up 10 seats, it's none of your business."

Out of nowhere, a young man standing nearby delivered a slap to the elderly man's face, retreating while exclaiming, "You dare to hog seats and still argue about it?"

The shocked woman stood up, questioning the aggressor's actions, and the elderly man pursued the young man.

Two days later, on September 6, Qingdao's Subway Police Department responded, stating that the incident was settled on the very day it occurred, and was classified as a simple dispute.

The young man had apologised to both seniors, who accepted his apology, choosing not to press any legal charges.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
