This is the moment a motorcycle rider who was distracted whiel using his phone slipped on a wet road in Thailand.

The motorist was travlling along a slippery highway following heavy rain in Bangkok when he took out the gadget from his pocket and began typing with one hand.

The brief moment of distraction caused him to fall over, with his two-wheeler skidding towards the adjacent lane. He picked himself back up and did not appear to be seriously injured following the accident on on August 30.

Driver Arongkorn Hormbaibua, who recorded the incident on his rear dashcam, said: 'Wet roads during rainfall are dangerous enough. But this guy was also riding one-handed while looking at his phone and not the road. Let this be an example for people who like to use their mobile phones while driving.'

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.

However, a lack of road safety education in schools along with notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws, and chronic under-investment in infrastructure, all appear to hamper the efforts.
