This is the nerve-wracking moment a terrifying landslide blocked motorcycle riders on a mountain road during a typhoon in the Philippines.

Footage shows three riders crossing the steep and winding highway in New Bataan, Davao De Oro, on September 3.

The men stopped in the road as torrents of raging muddy water and rocks poured down the hillside. They watched in disbelief before forcing their way through.

Approximately 20 typhoons enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility each year.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said two people were killed and more than 400,000 people were affected as Typhoons Haikui and Saola ravaged the tropical country last week.

Typhoon Haikui made landfall in southeast Taiwan on September 3 afternoon, knocking out power to more than 160,000 households. It then moved north to China.
