After a long season of drought, a climatic phenomenon affects much of Spain. The most affected areas are the communities of Madrid and Castilla-La Mancha, where the storm has caused significant damage. The DANA set off alarm bells in several cities. As a result of the storms and downpours, roads and tourist circuits, such as the wall of Avila, had to be closed. There were floods that caused damage, at least three deaths and two missing persons.

On Sunday afternoon, the Madrid emergency service had received 588 incidents and during the morning and afternoon of Monday, these quadrupled. "The most affected municipalities have been Navalcarnero, Arroyomolinos, Sevilla La Nueva, Alcala de Henares and Meco," said the service hours before reporting that while incidents continue to increase, the Security and Emergency Agency had already intervened in more than half of the events recorded.
