A father removed a python from ceiling rafters as his family screamed in panic.

Footage shows the resident being assisted by an animal rescuer to reach the serpent before climbing the stairs and pulling the snake with bare hands in Bangkok, Thailand on February 14.

They later released the reptile in woodland near a canal several miles away.

The reticulated python is found throughout Southeast Asia, where they live in forests, swamps, canals and even in cities, causing them to come into conflict with humans. The species is one of the world's largest snakes and can eat humans, cats, dogs, birds, rats and other snakes.
