Torrential floods raged through a subway as record-breaking rains hit Hong Kong.

Footage shows cascading water rushing down a station in the Wong Tai Sin district following heavy floods that hit the city on September 7 evening.

The Hong Kong Observatory said more than 6.2 inches of rain had fallen between 11 pm and Thursday midnight, marking the highest hourly rainfall since 1884.

Hong Kong's Mass Transit Railway said trips were suspended on one of its lines due to the flooded Wong Tai Sin station.

Authorities issued the highest 'black' rainstorm warning due to the extreme weather, which disrupted transportation, school, and businesses on Friday, September 8.

The deluge comes just days after Typhoon Saola battered Hong Kong as a Category 2 hurricane over the weekend.
