A woman spotted a peculiar-looking bird standing near her doorstep in China.

Video filmed in Huainan City in Anhui Province on August 30 shows a bird standing in an unusual posture for more than two hours without a single movement.

Initially, the filmer Mrs Xu even mistook it for a small cut of discarded vegetables.

After going home a few hours later, Xu found that its state had not changed and she moved it from the bustling road to a safer place. The bird eventually flew away.

According to some netizens, the strange-looking bird is a Yellow Bittern, which is a national second-grade protected animal in the country.

With its timid habits, it is widely known for its posture of not moving at all as if a piece of paper when camouflaged.
