Russia has said that it has fired on Ukrainian positions using T-80BV tanks.

The images appear to show one of the Russian tanks being loaded with ammunition under the cover of camo netting in a forested area before it is seen speeding down a dirt track in Ukraine.

It can then be seen manoeuvring into position in another camouflaged location before repeatedly opening fire. The footage then cuts to Ukrainian positions apparently being hit by the Russian ordnance.

A Ukrainian military vehicle can apparently be seen being targeted as the footage ends.

The images were obtained from the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) on Friday, September 8, along with a statement claiming: 'Crews of T-80BV tanks of the Western Military District provide fire support to motorised rifle units in the Kupyansk direction.'

The Russian MoD added: 'Tankers of the Western Military District in the zone of a special military operation provide fire support to motorized rifle units, ensuring the advance of Russian troops.'

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022 in what the Kremlin is still calling a 'special military operation.'
