Multiple fridges in a London supermarket break down after record-breaking September temperatures where four consecutive days have exceeded 30 degrees celsius.

Perishables were moved from the affected units into functioning fridges or disposed of, for food safety reasons (September 8).

The unexpected autumn 'blow torch' weather followed on the back of a washout summer, which saw much of the school summer holidays with cooler than average temperatures and rain.
