A woman was shocked when she discovered that her wooden bathtub was overgrown with fungi.

The bizarre find unfolded in a quaint home located in Anning, in south-western China's Yunnan Province.

Ms Peng, the homeowner, was taken aback when she found her unused wooden bathtub flourishing with a variety of fungi.

Ms Peng said that it happened while preparing to take a bath one day, when she was surprised to find the wooden bathtub covered in a multitude of shrooms.

The bathtub had been left untouched in the bathroom for several days.

Wooden bathtubs, known for their rustic charm and natural appeal, as it seems can provide an ideal environment for fungi growth under certain conditions.

Wood, being an organic material, can absorb moisture over time, creating a damp and humid environment conducive to the growth of fungi.

This, coupled with the absence of regular use, may have contributed to the flourishing of the fungi within Ms Peng's bathtub.
