Palestinians and Moroccans stand in solidarity after deadly earthquake in Marrakesh
Palestinians and Moroccans take part in a stand in solidarity with Morocco on Monday (September 11) after the devastating earthquake that struck Marrakesh, in Gaza City.
Dozens of people in the Gaza Strip participated, on Monday, in a stand in solidarity with Morocco against the backdrop of the earthquake that struck the country, causing the death and injury of thousands. Participants in the stand, organized by the Moroccan community in the Gaza Strip, raised banners expressing their solidarity with those affected.
Bilal Jadallah, Director of the Foundation, said in a speech on the sidelines of the protest: “We stand to express our solidarity with the Moroccan people, following the painful earthquake that struck their country.”
He added: "We offer our condolences to the Moroccan people and King Mohammed VI of Morocco. We express the solidarity of the Palestinian people with the Moroccan people. We wish mercy for the deaths and a speedy recovery for the wounded."
On Friday evening, an earthquake measuring 7 degrees on the Richter scale, centered in the Al Haouz region, struck several Moroccan cities such as the capital, Rabat, Casablanca (the largest city in the country), Meknes, Fez, Marrakesh, Agadir and Taroudant, according to the National Institute of Geophysics.
