A vandal was left injured after he fell off a historic sculpture in Moscow, shattering the artwork in the process.

Footage captured on September 9 shows a man scaling the golden Princess Turandot sculpture which was erected outside the Vakhtangov Theatre in 1997.

The man is seen falling off the top of the sculpture, pulling part of it down to the ground with him.

He was taken to Botkin Hospital with fractures and a head injury.
