This unusual dish made of bull genitals has become an unlikely hit with local foodies in Thailand.

Adventurous diners flocked to the See Koi Fao restaurant - popular for its signature northeastern Thai cuisine - in Khon Kaen province to have a taste of the hearty penis soup, which is believed to have 'nourishing medicinal properties'.

The bull's testes and shaft are minced into fine pieces, then simmered with flavourful herbs and spices to create a rich broth with tender meat.

Restaurant owner Krasin Klangchamnan said reservations had to be made in advance to try the dish, as bull genitals were 'rare' and not normally sold by butchers.

Krasin said: 'Each menu item is meticulously portioned with precisely 100 grams of beef to ensure a consistent and appropriate serving size for customers.

'The beef used in these dishes is sourced from cows freshly butchered on the same day. This helps the meat have a smooth texture and sweet flavour.'

The restaurant is located on Soi Sri Chan 26 in Khon Kaen and operates from 10 AM to 10 PM daily, except on Buddhist holidays.
