These divers swam in close proximity to a banded sea krait, one of the most venomous sea snakes on Earth.

Filmed in the coral reefs of Nusa Lembongan, off Bali, the footage shows the sea snake swimming alongside the filmer before retreating to the reef.

Just a fraction of venom produced by the banded sea krait is enough to be fatal to a human.

A small group of divers is joined by a banded sea krait exploring the reef in search for food. The coral reefs of Nusa Lembongan, off Bali, are in pristine state and host a thriving community of reptiles including this banded sea krait. It is a highly venomous snake with a potentially deadly bite, but attacks on humans are extremely rare due to the small size of its mouth: it can only bite the incautious diver who touches the reef without gloves leaving the skin between the fingers exposed to potential threats.
