Scorpion Festival is being celebrated in Kodumur town of Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh. In a decades-old ritual in India, scorpions are seen crawling on the faces of devotees, including children. The video shows local people taking part in the ritual, placing scorpions on their heads and near their faces. The courage of the devotees stems from the belief that Goddess Kondammai will save them if they are bitten by a scorpion. If bitten, devotees apply herbal paste to the wound, which mainly includes turmeric.
