More than 1,000 press freedom violations in last five years in Managua, Nicaragua

A total of 1,329 cases of press freedom violations in Nicaragua in the last five years recorded a report published by the organization Voces del Sur (VDS) in conjunction with the Foundation for Freedom of Expression and Democracy (FLED), both dedicated to the promotion of public freedoms.
The report published Friday in commemoration of International Journalists' Day documents aggressions against reporters in Nicaragua from April 2018, when the socio-political crisis began in Managua, until April 2023.
During the five-year period, the indicator that predominated was aggressions and attacks, with a total of 759 and aggressions represented 57.1% of the violations against journalists, according to the report.
