Police officer crawls into pipe to rescue injured dog in Washington
Incredible footage captures a Washington Deputy's daring rescue mission on September 7 as he crawled into a culvert to save a dog named Piper.
The dog had sought refuge in the culvert after being hit by a car. Pierce County Sheriff's Office deputies responded swiftly to a report received at 9:39 pm, rushing to the scene at the 10700 block of Woodland Ave E., Washington.
The video shows the deputy crawling into the pipe beneath the road, with the dog lying on top of him. Using a blanket, the deputy carefully extracted the dog and transported her to an emergency vet.
Piper, a stray without an owner or microchip, faced euthanasia, but officers intervened, preventing her euthanization and arranging for the emergency surgery she required. With assistance from People for Animal Care and Kindness (PACK), Piper underwent the necessary surgery and is now on the road to recovery.
In a heartwarming scene, another video shows Piper in post-surgery care, connected to tubes and wearing a protective cone, nestled in a warm blanket. The Pierce County Sheriff's Office commended its deputies for their compassion and heroic actions, stating, "Stepping up where so many would not, these deputies are full of compassion and awesomeness! So proud of these guys!"
