An 85-year-old man set his neighbour's car ablaze amid ongoing tensions in China.

CCTV footage filmed in Zhangjiajie City in Hunan Province on September 10, shows an elderly man named Cui bending over with a makeshift ignition device consisting of a stick and cloth strips, methodically dousing a car and its surroundings with gasoline from a container. After a few tense minutes, he ignited the cloth strip, setting the car ablaze.

In the heat of the moment, the elderly man was unable to evade the flames and tumbled to the ground. Astonishingly, he didn't make a hasty retreat once the car was engulfed; instead, he lingered until the fire completely enveloped the vehicle. The car was left as nothing more than a charred shell.

According to Mr Lin, the village leader, there had been longstanding tensions and minor disputes between the two families, including land-related issues. He commented, "The relationship between these two families had never been cordial."

Presently, the elderly man responsible for the arson has been taken into custody for investigation.

据该村村支书林先生介绍，两家人的确因土地问题有间隙，也有其他的小矛盾，“两家人一直关系处得不怎么样。”
目前，纵火老人已被带到派出所接受调查。
9月11日，慈利县警方对此事进行了通报：
2023年9月10日23时26分，慈利县公安局接到三合镇月亮岩村村民唐某报警：其丈夫崔某龙停放在家门口的一辆汽车被人烧毁。接警后，慈利县公安局迅速出警处置，并将犯罪嫌疑人崔某月（男，85岁）抓获。 经查，村民崔某龙与崔某月的儿子崔某寨系邻里关系，两家因琐事曾多次发生纠纷。9月10日23时许，犯罪嫌疑人崔某月携带家用液体燃料将崔某龙停放在家门口的SUV汽车烧毁，现场无人员伤亡。目前，慈利县公安局已对涉嫌故意毁坏财物罪的崔某月立案侦查，案件正在进一步侦办中。
