Pedestrian narrowly escapes death as balcony crumbles in China
The concrete barrier of a fourth-floor balcony suddenly collapsed, injuring one pedestrian in southern China.
Terrifying CCTV footage was filmed in Emei City in Sichuan Province on September 9. A man on the pavement was struck by a falling concrete slab.
Bystanders rushed immediately to the scene, managing to lift the heavy concrete off the man and pull him to safety.
Not long after, an ambulance arrived on the scene, with medical personnel swiftly placing the injured man on a stretcher and whisking him away.
Following the shocking incident, community workers and patrol officers promptly arrived at the site. Working in tandem with traffic police, they helped disperse the crowd, established a safety perimeter using warning tapes, and erected safety signboards to caution the public.
The injured individual has been rushed to the hospital for treatment and is not in life-threatening condition. The building in question has been vacant for a long time. Relevant authorities are currently in the process of locating the owner.
As for the cause of the accident, investigations are still underway.
