A flock of farm ducks took an unusual road trip - riding on the roof of a bus in the Philippines.

The native breed of Pateros water birds sat on top the passenger vehicle while they stopped to refuel at a petrol station in Batangas province on September 7 evening.

Footage shows the well-behaved animals nestled on the minibus, locally called jeepney, without any special equipment to keep them from escaping.

The farmer, who works as a bus driver in his spare time, took his time to wipe the windscreen while an attendant refilled his tank without worrying about the ducks wandering away.

Pateros ducks are a breed of domestic ducks originating in the Pateros district of Manila. They are known for their small size, white feathers, and gentle temperament.

They are thought to have originated from the Muscovy duck, which was brought to the Philippines by Spanish colonists in the 16th century. The ducks were then bred with local ducks to create the Pateros breed.
