Helicopter appears to fly without rotors moving in bizarre optical illusion
A helicopter appeared to fly over a grass field without its rotors moving in a bizarre optical illusion.
Footage shows one of Royal Thai Police's Airbus Helicopter H175 hovering about 50ft above the ground with its blades looking stationary as it approached landing in Lampang, Thailand, on September 8.
The illusion was caused by the stroboscopic effect, which is a visual phenomenon that happens when the blades of the rotor are rotating at a speed that is close or similar to the shutter speed of the camera.
