A mum whose son wanted an Apple MacBook for his birthday played the ultimate prank giving him just an apple, macaroni and a book.

Leo Fitzpatrick - a big Roblox fan - had asked for the swanky laptop for when he turned 11.

But prankster mum Claire saw it as an opportunity to "keep him grounded" with a practical joke

She bought the laptop but took it out of the box then dashed around the house picking up items to put in its place.

The 42-year-old ended up taping an apple, a bag of macaroni and a carol book to a piece of cardboard with the labels 'apple', 'mac' and 'book' underneath.

Claire wrapped up the hoax laptop ready for the big day.

She filmed the schoolboy unwrapping in front of his family sent into a fit of giggles when he clocked the prank.

Leo was later given the MacBook in bubble wrap.

Claire, from Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, said: “So I came up with the idea a few days before Leo's birthday.

“I am always pulling practical jokes on Leo and his brother Nico usually for Christmas.

“We always get the kids what they want but I like to pull a practical joke on them first just to throw them off a bit.

“It's almost to keep them grounded and not assume they will automatically get everything they ask for.

“We already had all the items in the house so it didn't cost anything to pull the joke.

“It was just a bit of fun, we know how our kids can take a joke.

“His aunties, uncle and cousins were all there and found it funny.

“When I told my friends they just laugh as they know what I'm like from previous pranks.

“Everyone took it for the joke that it was.”
