Protective Black Swans repel two Pelicans that were eyeing off their cygnets for lunch.
Australian Black Swans (Cygnus atratus) are highly protective of their young. This pair of Swans escorted their two small cygnets into Herdsman Lake when two Australian Pelicans (Pelecanus conspicillatus) swam towards them, eyeing off the baby Swans as a potential meal. The parent Swans immediately swam towards the Pelicans, successfully repelling them. After a while the Swan family returned to the lake shore to feed on the lawn.
