This is the dramatic moment a four-year-old girl with her head stuck between two waiting room chairs was rescued in Thailand.

Irene had accompanied her mum Ketsinee to a hospital in the capital Bangkok to have her younger sister Cherrene checked on April 4.

As the family waited for their turn, impatient Irene began to run around in the seating area.

Ketsinee said she had turned away for a moment to feed Cherrene some milk, but was surprised to find Irene wedged between the plastic chairs when she looked back.

The shocked mum then told Irene to sit still, then asked help from the hospital guards to free her daughter.

Footage shows a calm Irene kneeling on the floor as staff used a screwdriver to remove the plastic seats squeezing her head.

Ketsinee said the youngster was freed in 20 minutes, and the rescuers re-attached the chairs closer together to keep other rowdy kids from sticking their heads in the gaps.

Ketsinee said: 'At first, I was very shocked. But I was relieved when the doctor at Center 24 Bang Khen looked Irene over and said she wasn't hurt.

'She was stuck for about 20 minutes, but she stayed very calm. I tried to stand where she could see me clearly so she wouldn't be scared. When she was freed, she immediately returned to her normal naughty self.'
