This is the terrifying moment a metal pole dropped from a crane into the flow of traffic below - narrowly missing a family's car.

Dashcam footage shows how the item came loose from the construction equipment while it was suspended over the bust road in Bangkok, Thailand on September 9.

A car was driving past at the time and the pole narrowly missed the vehicle. The car stopped briefly but then continued driving.

Moments later, the construction workers rushed and took out the pole and the debris out of the way.

The driver of the car behind said the mistake 'caused the accident' and it had an 'impact on the population' by making roads less safe.

The incident has raised concerns about safety standards in Thailand's construction industry. The government has been criticized for poor contractor management, lack of resources, and design delays, which have led to accidents in the past.
