A doting uncle built a makeshift bridge using wooden benches so his niece could safely cross a flood.

Footage shows Tirso Arellano alternately laying the two pieces of furniture in front of Maria Yzabelle Ghryz Arellano so she could avoid wading through the dirty water in Tarlac province, the Philippines on September 11.

While most of the deluge from Typhoon Yun Yeung, or Ineng, had receded, Tirso's home remained swamped being situated in the low-lying area of the community.

The Philippines and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are in their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms in the afternoon leading to widespread flash floods.
