Fascinating footage shows how a housewife made a natural fan - by raising more than 2,000 silkworms.

Li Xixi collected the silk spun by the moths and then wound it around a wooden frame at her home in Lishui in the Zhejiang province of China on July 9.

Li said she made the fan as a gift for her sister.

She added: 'To make this fan, I firstly raised more than 2,000 silkworms, waiting for them to spin silk, and then used the silk to make the fan all by myself.'

Li said her next plan is to make a quilt out of natural silk.
