This is the moment an amazed crowd gathered around a rare Ferghana horse, known as the 'heavenly horse', revelling in the sight of its shiny metallic coat that many online users likened to platinum.

The beautiful equine was filmed standing beside a man who appears to be its owner outside what seems to be its stable in Jilin, north-eastern China.

A number of people are seen standing around it in a circle and snapping images of the majestic creature whose coat looks like white satin against the sunlight.

The horses are native to Turkmenistan, and were brought back to China over 2,000 years ago during the Han Dynasty (206 BC to 220 AD). They can also be found in other coat colours, including chestnut, black, gray, and others.

Known as 'sweats blood horse' in China, Ferghana horses are said to be one of the most beautiful horse breeds in the world and are widely recognised for their fur that has a distinctive metallic sheen and their lean build.

They were given the Chinese name Han Xue Ma, which translates as 'sweats blood', because when they run, their blood vessels are very clearly defined through their thin skin.

The glands around their shoulders and neck are so strong that when they sweat, they emit a reddish liquid that makes their coat look darker and gives the appearance of bleeding.
