Officials conduct rescue operation after boat capsizes in northern India

Rescue workers are trying to trace the more than 30 people who went missing after a boat capsized in northern India's Bihar.

The incident took place in Bagmati River, Muzaffarpur district on September 14.

Visuals showed the NDRF team travelling on the boat in search of the missing people. In another visual, a man is seen jumping into the fast-moving river trying to rescue the drowning children.

According to a police officer, there were more than 30 people on the boat including school students and women when the accident took place. In all, 17 people have been rescued so far and efforts to help the others are continuing in the area around Madhurpatti ghat near Bhatgama village.

According to Muzaffarpur DM, the incident took place between 10.30-11 a.m. Teams of NDRF and SDRF have been rushed to the accident site.
